Description: The Friends of the Library presents Guest Speaker Marie Harris, with her program “Amy Beach in Words and Music” on Tuesday, October 30th at 7 PM, at the Freedom Public Library.

Former New Hampshire Poet Laureate Marie Harris will perform a original first-person narrative celebrating the life and music of New Hampshire composer Amy Beach. Marie will be accompanied by soprano Adi Rule singing a selection of Beach’s music.

During 2018, A Brilliant Life: The Musical Career of New Hampshire’s Amy Beach, an exhibit curated by the UNH University Museum, has been on display at libraries throughout New Hampshire. This traveling panel exhibit about the life of Amy Beach, America's first woman to write a symphony, was planned in honor of Beach's 150th birthday by the University of New Hampshire's Special Collections and the University Museum.
