Featured Artist through January: Jan Welch
Jan Welch was born and raised in Ohio. She joined the Army at 19 and served two tours in Germany (Kaiserslautern and Heilbronn) and one tour at Ft. Riley, KS. While serving at Ft. Riley, she met and married her husband, Doug, a local Freedom boy.
After leaving the service, Jan and Doug moved to Alaska. Jan worked for the Federal Court for 23 years and retired in 2017. While living in Alaska, their favorite place was Denali National Park and in retirement, Jan was able to volunteer in the park, which was a dream come true!
Jan and Doug moved back to Freedom in 2020.
Jan is not a professional photographer. Jan has loved birds and wildlife since she was a little girl. This collection was all taken with a simple compact “point and shoot” camera and demonstrates that all it takes is a passion and lots of time spent out in nature. She hopes everyone enjoys this series of photos, which she named “Wild About New Hampshire”.
