American Revolution: Community Screening & Discussion: The Spirit of Service
The Freedom Public Library, the Freedom Historical and the Effingham Historical Society, are partnering to present a special community screening and discussion of “The Spirit of Service,” a 30-minute excerpt from The American Revolution, the acclaimed documentary by Ken Burns, Sarah Botstein, and David Schmidt on Saturday, March 21.
Made possible with support from PBS and WETA, The Spirit of Service explores the vital roles played by colonists during the American Revolution, highlighting acts of service beyond military participation.
The program will include a facilitated discussion led by Dr. John Mackey, Master Lecturer in Social Sciences at Boston University. Dr. Mackey will provide historical context and respond to audience-generated questions about the American Revolution.
The event will take place at Town Hall (16 Elm Street, Freedom, NH) at 3:00 PM, with light refreshments served following the program.
The public is warmly invited to attend.
